Foreign ministers from 31 Arab and Muslim countries, together with the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Gulf Cooperation Council, have issued a joint statement condemning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s vision of a “Greater Israel,” describing it as a direct threat to regional security and a violation of international law.

The statement, released on Friday, was signed by ministers from Jordan, Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Gambia, Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Maldives, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen, alongside the secretaries-general of the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Signatories criticized Netanyahu’s remarks as a “blatant violation of international law and the principles of international relations,” highlighting the threat they pose to Arab national security, the sovereignty of states, and regional and global peace. They affirmed their commitment to implement all necessary policies and measures to ensure peace, security, and development, while rejecting any form of domination or force.
The declaration described the “Greater Israel” idea not as a political project but as “the same old colonial dream disguised with biblical rhetoric.” Netanyahu presents it as a “historical and spiritual” mission. The statement also condemned comments by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state and his proposed territorial annexations.
The ministers denounced ongoing attacks, ethnic cleansing, and systematic starvation policies in Gaza, urging an immediate ceasefire, unimpeded humanitarian access, and the end of measures used against the Palestinian population.
Netanyahu, speaking to Israeli media on Tuesday, said he felt a “deep connection” to the vision of a “Greater Israel,” which he linked to territories under Israeli occupation as well as parts of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon, describing it as a “historical and spiritual mission.” These remarks drew widespread condemnation from regional authorities and across Muslim-majority countries.
The joint statement reflects a unified position among Arab and Muslim nations to defend sovereignty, uphold international law, and maintain regional stability in response to Netanyahu’s statements.
